Sense and Sensibility

senseThis is not a chick flick- it is sharp, romantic, and funny all the way through. Once shooting was completed, Hugh Grant flew directly to Los Angeles and was arrested with Divine Brown. Emma would meet her future husband Greg Wise (Mr. Willoughby) on this set. I have the Academy Award-winning adapted screenplay (by Emma Thompson), and it included a hilarious Set Diary written by Emma.

2011 UPDATE: I just rewatched this (November 2011) I didn't plan on it. In fact, my wife suggested it and I rolled my eyes. I saw it on the big screen in 1995 and loved it, but this week I wasn't in the mood. So I sat down with the newspaper, ready to mostly ignore it playing in the background. Then I was totally sucked in! Man, what a good movie. Not only did it deserve all the awards, but it's just one of the great movies, period.

This is one of those English movies where you suspect there's only 40 actors on the whole island, living in a dorm together. I count six actors who'd appear in Harry Potter movies: Professor Snape, Professor Trelawney, Dolores Umbridge, Cornelius Fudge, Madam Pomfrey, and The original Fat Lady!
