A great Gen X high school comedy! I never got around to seeing this* until now, to my great loss. I don't know what made Emily suggest it, but we all watched it together and had a blast. I enjoyed pointing out to the kids "When the school bully brings stuff from home to humiliate you with (fridge magnets), they're officially a sociopath." The charm, chemistry, and pure hotness of Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow cannot be denied. Ranks right up there with
Clueless and
Heathers in the pantheon of teen movies. The multiple times Romy gets sexually harassed, I couldn't help but think of Woody Allen and Harvey Weinstein sabotaging her career for declining to submit to them - after 1999 she stopped getting cast in major studio movies, and has spent most of her career since in independent film and television.
