Somehow I have never reviewed His Girl Friday on this blog? This movie is brilliant. I've seen it many times. I watched my Criterion Blu-Ray with my 14-year-old son last week, and asked him what he thought. He said "they talk really fast!" This time I noticed how Walter schemes to make Hildy's engagement fall apart, and lure her back to the newspaper business by making her day a living hell - and yet, by the end, we don't hate him, and their reunion feels organic. It helps that Cary Grant is Walter. I remember how thrilled I was the first time I saw this and how I fell in love with Rosalind Russell. She and her character hold their own against Cary Grant, and she even gets her own laughs occasionally.
