Documenting my own history is sometimes easiest by looking at my mixtapes: my tenure at WMGX, "Portland's Best Music" ended in July 1996, after I completed a six-hour Saturday morning overnight shift, and the teenager scheduled to relieve me did not show up. I woke up my boss. He told me I had to cover the shift = work a double, until noon Saturday. Bob's employee didn't show up, and I was paying the price? I told him to come in within an hour or I was leaving, and the station would go off the air. He slammed the phone down in frustration. Twenty minutes later, he arrived and I left with no words exchanged. I don't remember whether he called to fire me that day or the next. I wonder who he found to fill my shifts on such short notice? This mix tape was begun July 5, 1996, and finished at my new job at WMGX.
