Hopkins and Pitt chew the scenery in this Western/chuck flick. I was really turned off by the World War I trench battle sequence where Samuel (Henry Thomas) gets tangled up in barbed wire, chokes on mustard gas, and is riddled with bullets by Nazi soldiers. You can't torture and murder Elliott from
E.T. and expect the audience to love you for it.
