PaddingtonI heard this movie was good! Paddington is adorable and precious, clever enough for parents to enjoy, with a big heart and pleasant magical realism, kind of like Fantastic Mister Fox, but not twee and obsessed with detail. Because we were watching with my three-year-old, we mostly skipped over Nicole Kidman's villainous scenes, but the remainder of the movie was special. Also, the parents are Hugh Bonneville and Sally Hawkins! Recommended.
Harry Potter Index: Dumbledore, Umbridge, Weasley, Slughorn.
PS: This is the first of two movies where Sally Hawkins' bathroom is flooded up to the ceiling. Thankfully she doesn't have sex with the South American non-human protagonist in this one :-S
I heard this movie was better than the first! The most obvious upgrade from the first film is the antagonist - Nicole Kidman was maybe too dark for little kids, and she played the villain too straight. Hugh Grant's villain is a joy: a narcissistic over-the-hill theater star who inadvertently frames Paddington in a mysterious heist. Brendan Gleeson is another wonderful addition as a hardened felon who slowly softens to Paddington's good cheer. Also Recommended.Harry Potter Index: Dumbledore, Umbridge, Weasley, and Slughorn return, plus Mad-Eye Moody and Matilda Hopkirk!
PS: This is the second of two 2017 movies where Sally Hawkins has a dramatic underwater scene with the South American non-human protagonist. Thankfully she doesn't have sex with the protagonist in this one :-S
