Like most people, I like to pay $10 to escape life for 90 minutes at a time. Unlike most people, I have a record of it. Starting in the late 1980s, when movie theaters began printing your movie title and showtime on your ticket, I kept my ticket stubs in an empty matchbox. Once the matchbox got full, I started pasting the stubs into a blank book. Ten years later, that book was full. Ten years after that, the second book was full too. In 2003, I decided to take this old-fashioned record and put the whole thing online: STUB HUBBY chronicles every* movie I have seen in a movie theater since 1987. If some stubs are lost, it can be hard to remember when I've seen a movie on the big screen, or just on home video. If I'm sure I saw a movie in a theater but have no stub, I've picked an arbitrary date in the month the movie premiered. Also, I have seen many movies at the Brattle Theater in Cambridge, which still uses old-fashioned ADMIT ONE tickets. As a result, many screenings I attended at the Brattle have slipped through the cracks, like the time I saw The Shining, for example. Since 2003, I have been writing "reviews" of the movies. I try not to take them too seriously, and I rarely redraft more than once. For 1987-2003, I have included a capsule review. Enjoy!
